January falls in the midst of Bali’s Rainy Season. While it’s still possible to enjoy some sunny days with little to no rain, you should anticipate frequent tropical rain showers as part of your Bali experience. Despite the island’s warm tropical climate, the mountain regions near the volcanoes, such as Kintamani, can get quite chilly at night, with temperatures dropping to 10-15°C.
Bali is a wonderful destination year-round, but in January, the focus might shift to exploring temples and natural sites, shopping for clothing and treasures at art markets, and indulging in amazing wine and dining experiences. Daily beach outings might be less likely, as the sea becomes rougher due to wind, and beaches can get dirty from washed-up rubbish. After January 6th, it’s generally a slow month, which often leads to significantly lower accommodation prices. Ubud, being cooler than the southern coastal areas, usually experiences more rain.
