Indonesia, being an archipelago, boasts of numerous natural and sustainable tourism destinations. Among the super priority destinations set by the Indonesian government, North Sulawesi’s Likupang stands out as a true paradise. Likupang, along with other destinations like Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo, has been recognized for its exceptional beauty and allure.
Every year, the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) showcases Indonesia’s super destinations, and Likupang will take center stage in the upcoming event from 14th to 17th June 2023 at the BICC (Bali International Convention Centre). Supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Economy Creative, this year’s BBTF will also witness the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aiming to exchange knowledge and promote Indonesia’s tourism gems to the world. With top sellers, renowned hotel management groups, privately owned hotels, resorts, and sustainable travel operators, BBTF 2023 will welcome 300 esteemed buyers from across the globe.
Located in the eastern part of Indonesia, North Sulawesi is renowned for its mesmerizing natural attractions. From its pristine beaches to its picturesque mountains and lush forests, this province offers a unique charm that captivates all who visit. When you set foot on Likupang Beach for the first time, prepare to be awestruck by its vast expanse of white sandy shores. The crystal-clear seawater adds to its allure, making it the perfect destination for diving enthusiasts. Likupang ranks among the world’s top diving sites, offering breathtaking underwater scenery that can leave you spellbound. This pristine marine ecosystem is home to rare species like the large green sea turtle, a testament to the region’s commitment to sustaining its natural environment. Additionally, nearby islands like Lihaga Island and Gangga Island offer even more opportunities to explore stunning underwater wonders.
Likupang has made significant strides in enhancing its tourism infrastructure, making it an ideal destination for both local and international travelers. The government has invested in supporting road access and transportation options, reducing travel time from the airport to Likupang to just 15-20 minutes. With the reopening of direct flights from China beginning February 2023, Likupang expects an influx of foreign tourists, including visitors from Europe and Asian countries like China, Japan, and Korea. Moreover, the Directorate General of Coordination Sea Transportation Ministry has introduced two glass-bottom boats to enhance tourism activities in the Manado-Likupang Super Priority Tourism Destination. These boats can accommodate 44 visitors and seven crew members, providing a unique and immersive experience.
During BBTF 2023, North Sulawesi is eager to showcase Indonesia’s commitment to quality and sustainable tourism, particularly its stunning underwater landscapes. I Putu Winastra, the Head Committee of BBTF 2023 and the Chairman of ASITA Bali Chapter, expressed pride in being chosen as the trusted international travel fair partner to promote Indonesia’s beauty. With collaboration among various stakeholders, BBTF aims to firmly position Indonesia as a top tourism destination.
