Prepare to be Impressed as Sandiaga Uno Aims to Attract a Staggering 14 Million Foreign Tourists by 2024!
Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, has set an ambitious goal of welcoming 14 million foreign tourists to the country by 2024. This target represents a substantial increase of 5.5 million visitors from the previous target of 8.5 million for 2023.
Speaking during “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno” in Jakarta, Sandiaga expressed his confidence in achieving this target, saying, “InshaAllah, we are targeting 14 million.” To support this endeavor, he emphasized the importance of improving direct flight connections and the recovery of the tourism industry across Indonesia.
Sandiaga singled out Australia and India as key countries for attracting a large number of tourists, but he also mentioned China, Malaysia, and Singapore as potential markets for tourism growth. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will focus on promoting Indonesia as an attractive destination to travelers from these nations.
However, Sandiaga’s ultimate goal is to ensure that tourism development in Indonesia is of high quality and sustainable, benefiting the local communities as well. “Our focus on quality and sustainable tourism is increasingly being appreciated,” he highlighted.
Notably, the foreign tourist arrivals from January to August 2023 have already reached 7.44 million, surpassing the initial target set for the entire year. With four more months to go, Sandiaga expressed his optimism that the final number for 2023 could exceed the revised target of 8.5 million by 15-20%. “The target is between 10 to 11 million foreign tourist arrivals,” he explained.
Driven by the significant growth in foreign tourist arrivals, Sandiaga hopes to see a staggering 16 million visitors in 2024 if there is a positive surprise similar to the one seen in 2023. He believes that achieving a growth rate of 10-20% could make this ambitious goal a reality.
In conclusion, Sandiaga Uno’s vision to attract 14 million foreign tourists to Indonesia by 2024 signals a promising future for the country’s tourism industry. With an emphasis on quality and sustainability, this endeavor aims to benefit both visitors and the local population alike. As Sandiaga pushes these ambitious targets, the world can expect to be amazed by the captivating beauty and rich cultural heritage that Indonesia has to offer.
